The PIROSCAFI LARIANI association is organizing a special day dedicated to exploring the nautical traditions of Lake Como, featuring a steamboat trip to the Barca Lariana Museum aboard the steamship Concordia. The event is open to everyone, but includes a segment reserved exclusively for children, with the first cruise to the museum dedicated entirely to Menaggio’s elementary schools; Meanwhile, passengers arriving from Como will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful village of Menaggio, guided by a cultural walking tour organized by the SENTIERO DEI SOGNI association. This is a unique opportunity designed to spark a passion for the world of boating on the lake in both adults and children, and the event will showcase the lake in all its forms.

“The Museum in the Dark – Landscapes Come Back to Life”

An immersive journey through memory, light, and artificial intelligence
, the museum goes dark only to be reborn in a new light. The galleries, shrouded in darkness, are transformed into a space suspended in time, where subtle hints of color guide visitors like lanterns on the water.
Darkness does not hide; it prepares. It eliminates distractions, sharpens the senses, and restores boats and objects to their most intimate form.
In the exhibition halls, experimental videos generated by artificial intelligence come to life: vintage photographs of the Lake Como landscape are brought to life; the water ripples once more, the sails billow, and the boats glide across the lake just as they did a century ago.
Photography, a frozen moment in time, regains movement and life.
The project positions the museum at the forefront of the cultural scene: among the first to explore the language of generative art applied to historical heritage, with an approach that is both rigorous (drawing on vintage photographic sources) and poetic.

Speakers: Antonio Collini and Marcello Baldrati

After steam power, the advent of the hydrofoil was undoubtedly the greatest revolution in lake navigation, cutting travel time from north to south from 4 hours to about 90 minutes. Antonio Collini and Marcello Baldrati, two leading experts in high-speed navigation, will explain how hydrofoils came to be used on the lake, the basic principle behind how they work, and what the future holds for this type of vessel. Following the conference, there will be guided tours of the hydrofoil “Freccia dei Gerani,” the last remaining RHS70 in the world, which was saved thanks to the dedication of the Museo Barca Lariana and is included in the musical tour.
