The History of Water Skiing

Water skiing in Italy began thanks to Vilfrido Cazzaniga, who started practicing it on the Navigli canals in Milan, pulled by a car along the towpath.
In 1946, he founded the first Italian school at the Idroscalo in Milan, moving it to Ossuccio in 1948, where he met Liliana Palmucci, his future wife.
Their school produced the first champions who helped popularize water skiing throughout Italy.
